Bodies in distress, hands that grip and conceal —
drawings about pressure and proximity.
Ceren Ören is a draughtsman working in charcoal and pencil, focused on the body under pressure — hands, mouths, and faces caught mid-gesture.
Trained first in psychology and only later in charcoal, Ceren reads a face the way a clinician reads a case file and draws it the way a confession gets made — slowly, and a little too honestly. Every drawing starts as a question about what a body does when it runs out of room: hands that grip instead of reach, mouths that hold instead of speak. The result sits somewhere between portraiture and diagnosis, tender and unflinching in equal measure.
